Quiet on the Henry front...

I got Henry a mineral block and put it in his stall Wednesday.

Do any of you use these? Like? Dislike? Thoughts?

WS was sick still on Saturday so no ride for Henry then either :(

This last week/weekend has been a bit crazy... I am hoping to get back on the riding train :) Not to mention this pregnancy is way different and harder then last time.

Good news, we had a good amount of rain Saturday night and all day Sunday!

Come here Henry!

Gotcha!

Three Amigos!

Hubby is still working on the floors tonight so hoping to get up and lunge Henry, maybe a ride Tuesday, idk Wednesday/Thursday, hopefully a trainer ride Friday and idk Saturday.

  1. I read an article about salt and mineral blocks here:

  2. I use the Himalayan salt block thingies and Mollie goes through phases. Sometimes she licks on it nonstop, other times I don't think she touches it for days/weeks.

  4. Love the mineral blocks! Red loves them too, but he seems to be more fond of the huge salt blocks. He goes through them like crazy.

    1. I think that this pregnancy is going to kick my bootie!

Yes I hope the WS feels better too! The crud going around has been nasty!

  6. I use the Redmond rock on a rope (looks like that's what you have?) and Hemie likes it. Interestingly they also make human mineral salt and I think it tastes good.

  8. My BO suggests doing an analysis on the hay you feed before you offer minerals -- knowing what he's getting every day and what minerals he does and doesn't need can prevent imbalances that could affect his body. That said, if I were picking a salt lick, I'd pick the type you have. :)

    1. I'm not highly impressing with any of the hay that my BO gets.. I swear she finds the cheapest stuff :( So i actually buy my own hay to supplement.

  9. I put the Redmond loose salt in my horses grain and then eat it right up most of the time.

  10. I have 4lb blocks of plain, selenium, and himalyan all lined up in a row in Sam's stall. The plain is the slowest to go through, but the others I replace about twice a year. I do have one small himalayan on a rope to use at shows in the summer. :)

    1. Nice! I am glad everyone has good luck with these, I feel silly for not getting them before!

  11. I have a Redmond rock for my ponies since they seem to prefer it to the processed blocks. I don't feed loose salt, though I probably should, I just do the rocks.

Hope you feel better soon and get to ride!

    1. During the summer I do an electrolyte but maybe this will take the place of that?

Thanks! I think I will feel better in like 9-10 months when i am not prego and back to my normal self/healed lol!!!

    1. Henry doesn't like the square/rectangle ones - he tends to crush them but seems like like this one :)

  15. Willow loves any kind of salt/mineral block. I have a huge stash at the barn, since I stock up when ever I come across a sale. Funny enough the cheap, square red mineral blocks are her favorites. She has drool stains all down the walls of her shed.

I'm sorry this pregnancy has you feeling yucky. I totally understand! If you are really sick, ask your OB for a script for some Zofran. It made my life somewhat manageable, but I was so sick I had to have it I.V.

    1. Nice that she likes the cheap ones!

I am not throwing up anymore- just very weak, NO energy, nauseous, extremely uncomfortable and not sleeping well haha!

  16. These Himalayan salt blocks are great...a normal salt block is pointless, they are designed for cows and not horses. Horses can not get enough off of them and that is why you should feet loose salt. Anyways, I hope he enjoys that one!

    1. Well that would prob be why he didn't like the other ones! I tried it once and yeah, never again!

  17. I have a mineral block. Walker won't touch it. He did, however, destroy its plastic holder so the jokes on me
