Square Toe Glitter Boot

Back to the grind! I didn't miss not being at work in-case anyone was wondering :)

Tuesday Henry has a couple hours turn out as well as a  hack in the evening. I wasn't feeling too hot and no one else was lessoning so I told my trainer that I would just do my own thing.

I just flatted him around and then cooled out and talked with a new ish (to the barn) western rider.

Wednesday Henry got a nice 3-4 hour turn out.

We also went over and messed with Grayson.

He's growing so fast! I could really tell last night cause I hadn't seen him in a week with out vacation.

Hubby is ripping out the carpet in our downstairs and putting in flooring, starting today... so I am going to head to the barn tonight after work (probably with B in tow)- not sure if I will get to ride but Henry will get out in some capacity.

Trainer ride's are going to be back in action ever Friday since I am done jumping.

Saturday we have a birthday party so I'll probably ride in the afternoon.

Got B some new boots! Pretty sure I am going to order myself a pair!

Also, don't forget to check out Dandyisms contest!!

14 weeks

So everyone has been making goals and I am longing to make some... as much as I would love to be able to do what I had planned in 2014- move up to the Adult Am Hunters (2'9-3'), that will have to wait till 2015 since... I'm pregnant :) Other then feeling really sick all the time and super weak, we are very excited!

So now you know what I haven't been jumping much lately and probably will just flat from here on out :)

So my goals for 2014 are...

- Ride as long as possible- this will be pretty much all flat riding to make sure that I am as safe as I can be.
- Get back in the saddle asap after baby is born- the Dr says 12 weeks post c-cession but I wasn't able to wait that long last time so I doubt I will wait that long this time ha! I will be sure to take it slow but won't be waiting 3 months ;)

Our vacation was good and I am happy to be back... I missed Henry, my bed and my schedule!

No Holiday Here :(

I hope everyone who has today off is enjoying it! Sadly I am at work...

Friday

Grayson is getting SO much better with getting his feet picked up (and cleaned). He's also loving life hanging out haha!!

He's on the left :)

Henry had the chiropractor out. As always he loves it!

Turn out after the chiro

Saturday I was draggggggging so I didn't quite make it to the lesson BUT I did make it out to ride and just hacked around while the lesson folks jumped :)

It was SO windy and lots of the horses were spooking but Henry wasn't phased, thank goodness! haha!

After the ride I hosed him off (we have warm water), did a vetrolin linament, washed his legs and washed/conditioned his tail :)

Put him in a stall with a cooler and some grain while I cleaned all my tack.

Then we went outside to walk and dry the rest of the way...

Munching waiting for him to dry

Hack tonight, lesson Tuesday, idk Wed and then we will be gone Thur- Mon and he's going to get loved on my barn buddies and should get 2 training rides :)

  3. Barn cat.
  4. Favorite area to ride at your facility.
The big outdoor arena, don't mind the wind attack ha!
  5. Between-the-ears shot, out on a trail ride. I can't find one!! Boo!

Ladies Night!

Video from Saturday

Thanks Kat and Andy!

Our lesson last night was the usual suspects!

Tacked up, lunged Henry and hopped on.

Flatted around- posting trot, sitting trot, 2 point, shoulder in, canter and even some extended canter which Henry LOVES!

Then we jumped an X with polls and a vertical.

Hubby tried to take action shots but his phone wasn't cooperating and they were all blurry. He did get some of us walking/cooling out though.

Turn out today, hack tomorrow, hopefully the Chiropractor Friday and lesson Saturday.

Draw Reins FTW!

Lunging :)

Hubby has to work last night so I had roughly 1.5 hours to get everything done at the barn and get home.

Got Henry, tacked up, lunged and got on. Trainer was still there so she told me to ride in draw reins. When we are in the arena alone- Henry tends to be bright eyed, head up and bushy tailed! It's like his frame goes out the window so she said to hack him in them so that he has to stay.in.a.frame!

I warmed him up then got to work.

Transitions was the game of the night.

About half way through the ride he was at a point where he was listening to my body SO well that I barely had to use much leg and he was sharp as a tack to do what I wanted- AWESOME!

I ended letting him trot around on the buckle and all was good in our worlds :)

Cooled him out, untacked, groomed, blanketed (plus blanketed 2 other horses) and took him home with his grain and hay.

I had made a super yummy soup in the crock pot so a warm dinner was waiting for us all!

Lesson tonight, something Tuesday, hack Thur, hopefully the Chiro Fri and lesson Sat :)

$100,000

An Eventful Life has a great idea.. what would you buy if you had $100,000?

In CA this wouldn't get me what I could get else where ha! Somewhere else, I'd but it all twds a facility!!

1. First I'd pay off my student loans- Roughly $25,000

2. I'd buy a custom saddle- Roughly $5000

3. New Truck- Roughly $30,000

4. New Trailer- Roughly $16,000

http://www.horsetrailerworld.com/home/trailerdetail.asp?ID=523113

5. I'd take about $4,000 and shop- breeches, custom boots, polos, belts, vests, jackets, show clothes, bridles, bathing products, girths... you name it!

6. With the last $20,000 I'd save it for anything that might come up :)

How would you spend $100,000?

Oh Weekend How I LOVE You

Hubby is working weekends now but I still love them!!

I made it out of the house and got to the barn in time to ride with the lesson.

Tacked up, lunged and joined the lesson.

Henry was up today.. actually he has been quite sassy lately. We flatted inside as a group and then headed down to the big outdoor arena to jump.

We started with some ground polls to an X. Henry was mostly good...

Then we did another X with some stuff under it and Henry was good again.

I had to bow out after that as I wasn't feeling good.

I cooled Henry out and headed up to the barn to get Henry cleaned up before the masses came.

I ended up hosing Henry off because he was foaming all over- neck, girth, shoulder.. sweaty under the saddle and he had nasty poop on his hind leg. I hosed off with warm water and then vetrolined his body oh and washed his tail!!

Put on a cooler, gave him grain and waited probably an hour for him to dry haha!

In that time I cleaned all my tack really well, tended to Henry's tail and did some chatting.

Peaking out of the stall while he was almost done drying

Put homeboy away with his extra hay and put on his Baker blanket..

He INSTANTLY rolled and then drank some water. Good thing I waited for him to dry 100% before putting him away!

30 things...

1: If your horse could talk what would they say? What would they be like?
I think Henry would be a jock but also really sweet at times. He has become really affectionate over the couple years that I have had him :)

2: If you were a horse, what would you look like (color, markings, etc), what discipline would you do, and what would you be like to ride?

I would be a beautiful gray, who is a kick ass hunter/derby horse who wins everything! :)

3: How many barns have you ridden at?
As a child, 2
As an adult, 3

4: What kind of bay do you prefer? (bright bay, blood bay, etc)
Dapple and lots of chrome!

5: Can you braid a horse's mane? Tail?
I wish!

6: Do you believe that you have to fall off in order to be a good rider?
I believe that a good rider is made over years of hard work.. and over those years, if you are being pushed and challenged you will probably fall off.

7: What do you think is more important: eq or effective riding?
I think the go hand in hand... some of the Eq has gone towards "looking pretty" or conforming to what is popular- that isn't the Eq I am referring to :)

8: Are there any "horse couples" at your barn?

Farrier and his wife both ride.. my hubby is horse savvy but doesn't ride, does that count?

9: Favorite treat to feed your horse?
I love any of the softer molasses ones!

10: Silly quirks your horse has.

He can undo his stall door, does that count?

11: Strangest thing you've fed your horse.

I don't normally feed him different things.. he normally spits out anything different that I try to feed him that I am eating so I don't waist the bite on him lol!

12: Have you ever made any horse friends through the internet?

Yep, that is how I found my trainer- through L via the internet.

13: Would you buy horse furniture?

Probably with-in moderation :)

14: Funniest horsey moment

Hmm idk

15: Post a picture of your horse (or any horse) making a silly face that you got on camera!

16: What's a moment with horses that you wished you caught on camera?

I've got some great moments on camera (thanks Kat and Andy) but I wish that I had more moments when I was younger and riding/showing.

17: How old was the youngest horse you've met?

When I was growing up, there were babies born at the barn that I rode at and the youngest I met was less then a day old.

18: How old was the oldest horse you've met?

In it's 30's

19: Opinion on colorful tack? (like red or blue)

No thank you

20: Have you ever tried horse treats? Hay?

Yes, I didn't like either

21: Have you ever felt like giving up on a horse?

I am sure I have but having that love/horse gene engrained in you, it's hard to walk away.

22: Tell the story about the horse that you first felt "click" immediately with you (and if you can't remember, most recent)

I was in love with Adam. He was a 17h retired Grand Prix horse. Sweetest most adorable and run horse to ride. I did my first show on him and learned a lot on him. I have tried to find the trainer that I rode with that owned him but haven't had any luck :(

23: Ever ridden side-saddle? How was it?

Nope

24: Most interesting place you've ridden at.

On the beach?

25: What kind of horse do you like? (sport, stock, endurance, etc)

 Fancy hunters :)

26: Do you feel like you have more patience with horses than people?

Def horses!

27: Is the horse you ride very vocal?

Henry used to be very vocal, thankfully his ear piercing screaming is something he has grown out of :)

28: Ever ridden in the sunset?

Our old arena had no rails so in our evening lessons, it felt like we were riding into the sunset!

29: How do you like a horse's mane? (roached, pulled, long, etc)

Short and tidy :)

30: What is your dream name for a horse?

I wanted to name Henry "Cabana Boy" cause he is my younger man that I spend all my time with, trainer said no lol
