Bucket List 2016 Edition

We all have an equestrian bucket list, I want to know what is on yours!!??

My biggest one right now is doing a Derby- 1 to just make it through and then after that I was to do more and actually be competitive!

Get a year end award, this means I need to pick a series and jump in feet first to do as much as I can to give myself the best chance possible.

Own property... maybe not this nice but hey I can dream ;)

Be more confident.

Clinic with George but maybe not in 2016, eventually

#noplaceidratherbe

Ooops I feel off the wagon with Henry updates...

Things are going well, we are hacking away :)

I really miss jumping but I am standing firm in waiting till that crack is all better and healed, it's a slow process but nothing in the scheme of 10+ more years of riding him.

We have been doing some of this...

And this..

And even snuck in some of this between the rain...

Poor guy hasn't been grazed in forever!! We both enjoyed it!

Cowboy Ride #3 and #4

He was great... plugging along and cowboy likes him a lot yay!

Hopefully he will be going to two months of training in March and April... I have March's money just working on April :)

Lets talk Clinicians

I think most people want to either audit or ride with George Morris.. I have audited 3 times now and would love to ride with him but am scared shitless to make a fool of myself honestly.

I have also audited 2 Hawley Bennett clinics and that was super cool to watch... a different perspective from an eventer.

I would really like to clinic with some other people, especially my trainers sister! We are working on getting her to set that up :)

Or have Lauren come, that would be AMAZING too but she is pretty swamped so probably won't happen any time soon.

Anywho, I'd like to know who you have or would like to clinic with? Give me your likes and dislikes!!

Blog Hop: 5 Horse Show Essentials

Thanks to The $900 FB Pony for a great hop!! I know I am late to the party...

Man it's going to be hard to pick just 5!!

Assuming my horse, tack and show clothes are included right...

1. Towels... you can do so much with washcloths/towels and they are greatly missed when you don't have them!

2. A good soft brush ... those dang shavings get everywhere- especially in braids and the fine dust is a pain to get off. A good soft brush is KEY!

3. Dr Pepper, I love this stuff, need this stuff, must have this stuff!

4. Lunge line, Henry is SO much better to ride when I am able to let him get his wiggles out.

5. Good rounds!! That is totally an essential lol!

Dem Toes

Monday was new shoes day.. so exciting I know. My sister brought her horse too so she could be reset before leaving for her next rodeo leg so at least I had good company :)

My shoer and his other top shoer said that I can start jumping but they wouldn't if they were me... they would like to see the top of the crack come down more. It filled in great but hasn't come down from the top more then about 1/3 so far.

I am in no rush and want Henry to never have a problem with this crack so I will wait till it's a 100% green light.

Tuesday morning I hacked.. Henry was a bit sassy but over all good. He felt great with his feet just done.

Wednesday I had time to hack int he morning (hubby was helping a friend with his car in the afternoon and worked in the evening) and was a bit ticked when they put the semi with a full load of hay inside the indoor making it so you couldn't ride... not cool.

So Henry got a quick lunge in the evening right before hubby had to go to work... I am still bothered that they didn't plan better or get more hands to unload rather then blocking the indoor- the only place we can ride when it's raining.

Thursday and Friday hubby is working 16+ hour days so I won't be able to get in any riding or even lunging.

Hopefully Saturday afternoon/evening I can sneak something in :)

G says hi!

Fancy Horse

Now I want to start by saying, I don't think Henry is the nicest most fancy horse.. but I do know he is a nice horse, easy on the eyes and good at his job.... NOW lol!

If you have been reading my blog since the beginning you know he didn't start out this way.. I got him off the track and he was just track broke... with a learned habit of stopping at almost any jump- no bueno!

2011

I had my first daughter 4.5 months before getting him via c-section, who's bright idea was this?!?! lol

2011

Sometime I wonder if people look at Henry and think oh he's a nice horse, she must have money to buy something... but really they don't know the hell I went through to get to where we are. Thanks go to my trainer for pushing me and seeing me through it all!

2015

My horse is SO fun to ride now, I feel like we really know each other and almost all of the time I feel confident riding him.

I hope to have a long, successful, healthy partnership with Mr H as Erica calls him!

Grayson Cowboy Ride #3

Monday...

Cowboy ride #3 is in the books... he is still getting A's on everything!

It's hard being ridden lol!

Tuesday we went on a trail ride- each rode a horse and ponies another.

Riding Rocky, ponying G

We went up and down hills, by cows, trotted all over and had a nice time out! G did great and was mostly perfect- a few times he wanted to snack rather then keep walking but he did awesome with the trotting, only got crazy once and luckily I was able to hold on lol!

G and Rocky helping mow some "lawn"
We got 6 of the 8 horses worked on the trail ride- total win!!
