Boots, I need Help with Boots!

I would love a custom pair of tall boots... but I can't really afford them.

I am not hard to fit... size 7 Reg height and Reg calf.

I love the Mt Horse boots I scored on Tack of the Day... but I would like something higher quality for showing.

I am not really a fan of the Ariats that I have... they aren't as buttery soft at the Mt Horse's and they make my right leg go numb. They aren't the Monaco which I am sure are buttery soft and nice, but a bit more then I would like to spend- though if I have to I would.

I am looking for your advice... I want mid- high end please... for the hunter ring... ready set go! :)

  1. DENIRO! For $700 you can get an absolutely beautiful, custom-looking boot. They also have a "budget" version for about $360 that is super-super soft leather.

  2. Mountain Horse's Venezia field boot and Sovereign field boot are lovely boots, especially for the price. The Sovereign in particular is made from nice quality leather.

Tredstep's Donatello boot is really nice, too, at a slightly higher price point.

Good luck in the search- I know it's hard to find good ones!

    1. I am asking because you work at a tack shop and my local one didn't seem do be much help. Do you think the Donatello is worth the increased price vs the mountain horse? Especially if I don't show (but maybe one day?), but am looking for something that is comfortable and not sloppy around my ankle.

  3. You can order Parlanti's for under $600 from Europe, if you're into that kind of thing. ;)

  4. Tredsteps are really nice too! They have a few different versions and a nice step up from the Mountain Horse.

    1. Tredsteps! Quality, as soft as my monacos, affordable.

    2. I second (triple?) the Treadsteps. LOVE mine, and the newer editions are even lovlier. A gal at our barn just go them and they look sharp. Really nice tapered silhouette on the leg and I've been impressed with their leather quality for the price range

  5. I would do Deniros or Tredsteps. I have heard Parlantis disintegrate.

  6. This might not be really what you're looking for, but my BFF just bought Tuff Rider Regal Field Boots and I was shocked to see how NICE they are. I jokingly call them "Parwantis" because they look a lot like Parlantis! They came out of the box literally buttery soft.

  8. I have a pair of Tredstep tall boots and would recommend trying them in a store if possible to be sure of measurements.
I love how mine look on and my leg is super star while riding (more so than when I wore paddock boots & gaiters which in themselves were a step up from the Aigle rubber boots...yeah I'm a classy chick) but after wearing them to ride both horses & to untack one + tack up the second one; 4 out of the last 5 days they have really rubbed my heels from walking in them. I so hand walk Nancy at least once in each direction prior to mounting & Kika longer depending on her mood. I deff think i over did the walking in them this week...

    1. Super stable* I don't have a super star leg ... although that would be cool if boots could give you that ;-)

    2. i love my tredsteps too but also recommend trying them on in store - the way the calf is cut can be kind of odd

  9. I've heard good things about tredsteps! I have a brand new pair of ariats that I need to have elastics put in (they are tall height but regular calf...I need a slim calf.... but I got them for $99 dollars instead of $399 so I'm willing to work around it). Why don't you like ariat's? I don't really have a brand of preference...I still ride in my no-name boots from high school.

  10. I just got my hands on some barely used Monacos for $400.

  11. Listen. Don't go to the dark side ;). Ariat has a new Monaco LX this Spring- the "old" version of the Monaco is on major sale right now- $599 on Equus Now.
Also- which version of Ariat's do you have? Spring '15 launched a new Heritage and Challenge Contour- majorly awesome updates. Gals at my barn are showing in the Heritage. At least try on a pair before going elsewhere!
Do I need to play the "support local Bay Area business" card? :)

    1. Haha I was waiting for you to chime in ;) They are a 3 or 4 year old Herritage pair (I think).. The are STILL not broken in well and are so think compaired to the Mt Horse. I'll def try some Monaco's :)
