Horse Show Snacks....

What are your go to horse show snacks? What must you have at the show?

I am always so nervous that I never eat much and always drink too much and make myself feel funky... oh the joy of nerves!

  1. It's been a long time since I showed but I suspect I would lean on my old friend - junk food. I'm kind of a stress eater so I suspect I'd have a bag of Doritos taped to my arm. What someone probably should eat is light simple meals and snacks that are healthy. I'm thinking bananas, apples, some chicken wraps, a protein shake/bar etc... :) you need to fuel yourself!

  2. I like string cheese, apples, King's Hawaiian bread rolls and granola bars. I keep everything pretty bland and try to stick to some protein.

  3. Red vines and garlic fries...HAHAHAHA. No seriously I try to eat a filling breakfast with protein that way I am never starving if I don't end up eating much the rest of the day.

  4. Lara bars or granola bars, fruit (fresh or dried), water, more water, extra water.
And wine and beer for over-night shows.

    1. I'm also a Cheezit (and wine) fan! It's basically all I bring to a show with me :)

  7. Lots of bottled water, Pepsi, Gatorade, along with a few beers :) A few granola bars and prepackaged peanut butter crackers.

  8. I like lighter fare -- lots of fruit -- as well as some munchies like pretzels, cheese & crackers, etc.

  10. I'm usually too nervous to eat during the wait between ride times (ha ha, we have ride times! ;P), so I make sure I'm loaded down with junk food. Because who can resist the urge to eat junk food? That way at least there's something in my system, and I can eat normal healthy food once I'm done riding.

  11. I don't eat a lot before I ride- so I tend to pig out after my classes. If I do eat before it's just snacking- Goldfish or crackers :)

  12. i like to have cans of soda water around - somehow the bubbles seem more refreshing in a way. and then total junk food like party mix or pretzels - salty stuff coated in MSG haha.

  13. I always find it amusing that walking tacos, sloppy joes, or chili are ALWAYS what is being provided at dressage shows. Uh, hello?! I am dressed in head to toe in WHITE, why would I want to eat any of those things!!
Honestly, I usually get so caught up in preparations, remembering tests, and nerves that I forget to eat until I get home!
