Hello Water

It's POORING outside as I speak...

Last night got what I intended to be a quick lunge in... H was HIGH so it took us longer then I anticipated which made me late to picking up B but so is life.

He only looks calm in these pictures.. notice how sweaty his neck is in the head shot. And my phones flash made his eye look CRAZY!!!

From last weeks lesson... I like how I am balanced and in a good position post jump :)
My trainer did something with him today- not sure what but she said he was good.

Lesson tomorrow.

  1. Interesting, you lunged him in a headstall.

    2. I generally do too; why IS it interesting?

    3. It's just interesting. I typically don't (unless I'm using side reins or riding after lunging), doesn't make it wrong, just makes it different and interesting.

    4. Well not to add on but apparently I'm going to...;) I was taught to always lunge in a bridle - more control.

    5. I usually lunge with my tack on if I am going to lunge before a ride. I don't normally lunge Houston for exercise unless I can't ride and I typically do that with side reins therefore a headstall.

If I am using the round pen and not using side reins I will just take him in his halter... Similarly if I am just checking if he is sound then I also just use his halter.

    6. Couldn't ride so I lunged.. there were others in the arena (it was pooooring outside) and i knew he was going to be fresh so for the extra "help" I used a bridle :) I prefer to use a bridle (with a mild bit) if I am lunging with others riding... if it's free lunging in the round pen then naked is all good :)

I also wanted to take some cute head shots in the bridle but with the light they all turned out funky.

  3. He looks so good! The tail makes me smile but you gotta do what you gotta do to protect the "goods." :)
