Empty barn... contemplated riding. Decided to ride... btw I love listening to music while I ride- I keep one ear bud in and one out so I can still hear other things if needed.
Got Henry, groomed, tacked up, lunged and hopped on.
He was really really fussy with his face- I wasn't even using a short rein or being busy with my hands. Took about 5-10 min for us to work it out and then he was pretty good.
There were some kids who had shown up with their mom playing on the chairs and just jumping up and down. He did pretty well with that which was nice.
I worked on our canter departures from a walk and trot, with contact and without, him really listening to me- even whoa's with no contact on his mouth just me sitting deep and saying whoa.
By the time I was done (about 40 min ride) someone had shown up for a lesson with one of the new trainers. I cooled out while the kiddo got started.
Untacked, groomed, pulled a little mane, blanketed, grained, grazed, put him away and gave kisses.
Lesson tonight, off tomorrow, lesson Thursday, trainer ride Friday and idk about Saturday since hubby works.
Your photos are always so beautiful! Makes me want to move out there.
ReplyDeleteCome to CA :)
DeleteKarley with her pics MADE me move!
DeleteIt was Henry's ploy to get Savvy out here.. he's in love! :)
DeleteI agree, her pictures always make me want to move out there!
DeletePlease don't tell me you actually like that song! Ugg, I can't stand it!
ReplyDeleteIt played while I was riding (Pandora) and it's been stuck in my head :) lol
DeleteI couldn't possibly ride and listen to music, even with just one earbud in. I remember when I got my first MP3 player (because that wasn't that long ago!) that I was nervous to walk along the street and have the earbuds in just in case I got hit by a car or something. When I ride, I like to be 100% alert - although I wouldn't mind music over a speakerphone.
ReplyDeleteI don't have it loud at all, can totally still hear everythin :)
DeleteI do the one ear bud thing too, works well for me. Also, I want to hate suit & tie but alas... Do not.
ReplyDeleteyep i love music :)
DeleteI also listen with one ear bud in and one out. I don't blast music and for the most part am not riding in any situation where music would be a dangerous distraction. When no one is at the farm/ outside of the BM or something I will play my music off speakers which eliminates the need for headphones. Very very nice. We don't have power near the outdoor though :(
ReplyDeleteyeah totally :) I love listening to music! yeah we don't have anything outside either.
Deletesounds like a good ride considering the wind :)
ReplyDeletehaha yeah :)
DeleteI love Suit & Tie, or anything associated with JT so I approve. Also love the pictures, and that Henry was a big boy today :-)
ReplyDeletehave you watched the Saturday night live Jimmy Fallon and JT history of rap/music? It's awesome!
DeleteIf not getting a lesson or hacking in the woods I always ride listening to radio on mp3 - great relaxation tool as having music in your head keeps out evil whispers & over concentration. :p
ReplyDeleteI never have it turned up so loud that I can't hear people talk to me or startling sounds if horsy decides to have a woopsy-moment. I ride with both earbuds in if alone in the arena, but if others riding at the same time i only ride with one - figure it makes me slightly less anti-social! :p
Yeah totally! It keeps my mind focused! And i can still hear if needed
DeleteI always say I am going to ride with music playing but never seem to. I always felt like I would get scolded at my old barn for not paying attention. Even if I only had one ear bud in and the volume turned low. I keep forgetting that I can do what I want now LOL.
ReplyDeletedo it ... it's great! :)
