In the summer I like to ride in sleeveless shirts and/or light t-shirts that wick the sweat away. In the winter I'm all about the layers. I love my under armour garments for keeping me warm and taking away the sweat. I almost always buy on sale and shop in tack shops, Costco (great for t-shirts and the long underwear), sports shops and golf shops.

  2. I shared! I also ride mostly in polos, but will do tank tops if it's really hot. When it's cooler i like to layer technical long sleeve shirts under a vest or jacket. :)

    1. OH AND - best deals for polo shirts is Aeropostale! I still fit in junior's sizes so I buy a lot of $5 polo shirts from there!

  3. woo hoo congrats on 700! my fave shirts for riding are actually technical type sleeveless polos designed for tennis or golf. i pretty much shop exclusively at Marshalls (same parent company as T.J. Maxx, Home Goods, and Sierra Trading Post) to snatch up whatever's deeply discounted and they usually have a good selection

  4. Congrats on 700! I like to wear loose racerback tanks in the summer - I get SO hot! I like sunshirts when its in the 70-80 degree range but that's rare nowadays :) - I shared your giveaway on my blog! Overfencesandundertrees.blogspot.com

  5. I prefer tank tops, I like the flexibility they afford, but will wear a polo in a lesson. If I'm feeling really scruffy, I wear t-shirts with the sleeves cut off. Super classy huh?

In the winter I'm a big fan of underarmour. I wear the heat gear ones, because even in the winters of Montana I still overheat pretty easily. But, I'll typically pair it with either a vest, or my carhart jacket.

I do most of my shopping for my "horse clothes" at Ross. Cheap, cheap, cheap, so when I inevitably get pony kisses I won't cry when I can't get the green out of them :D Bought all of my underarmour from sporting goods stores, and I have some that is military issued due to my boyfriend being former army. It certainly has it's perks! And I'll be sharing on my blog post today :)

  6. I generally prefer tank tops as I've tried a few sunshirts and I just can't get comfortable in them. I sweat, they get wet and clingy and I get claustrophobic. I either buy super cheap tanks at Target or recycle old tanks that are getting a little too ratty for my regular wardrobe. I also get workout tank tops on sale from wherever I can find them (UnderArmour are my favorite!). I've been wanting to try the Kerrits Icefil tops, but couldn't decide between the long sleeve or the sleeveless. I ended up getting a Kastel on sale at my local tack shop that has similar cooling technology, so I think I'll probably try the Kerrits sleeveless next.

  7. I normally ride in a t-shirt. I also do wear sun shirts if I'm going to be out in the sun a lot. This fair irish girl can't take the sun with out becoming lobster red. I like the noble equine sunshirts and have been able to find them on zullily and tack of the day for a pretty reasonable price.

  8. I like tech fabric polos! My favorite is the Ariat Cambria. Some cheap tank tops are on my list, though, because the heat here is too ridiculous.

  9. I like to ride in cheap-o summer work out shirts I get at Walmart. My last barn didn't allow riding in tank tops, so now I've gotten used to that and feel naked whenever my arms are bare--which makes for really great tan lines!

  10. We only have an indoor arena, no outdoor (boo), so I usually ride in tank tops. I did buy a sunshirt this year but I haven't tried it out yet.

    1. Oh, and Lands End clearance is the BEST! Just picked up $15 fleece vests for next winter.

  11. I've been riding in icebreaker t-shirts a lot lately and I really like them. They don't smell so they're great for hot days when you're going to sweat a lot.

  12. Summer, I'm a t-shirt girl. I love the ones from Homage. Winter, I'm the same as you -- long sleeve with a vest!

    P.S. CONGRATS on 700!!

  13. In the summer I'm a t shirt (usually the free kind... I'm shameless) or tank top (from anywhere, LL Bean and Lands End have some nice quality ones that last me a long time usually but I'll buy anything on sale) type of girl. I'm terrified to spend the $$ on a technical fabric long sleeve (ice fill, sunshield, etc) because if I love it, I may go broke and/or spent all my time looking for them in clearance sections!! I DO have two short sleeve technical fabric shirts that I think keep me cooler than a normal t for sure. Those were both free though.

In the winter? Ugh. Anything. This past winter was so freaking cold, I wore under armor under a long sleeve with a vest. But I'll break out the hoodies (just not for lessons) or winter jackets and not be bothered. I work outside so you'd think I'd get used to it but really, it just makes me hate being cold even more. I'm much more fashionable in the not below 32 degrees months.

When it's not sub zero or sweltering hot? I try to wear polo shirts and look nice. I think I ride better when I look better, even though I usually ride completely alone. It's all in my head!

I used to only ride in polo shirts in the summer, but since I found the SmartPak sunshirts, they've become my new favorite. For the winter, I usually layer an Under Armour longsleeve shirt under a workout-type longsleeve shirt and a vest (if it's super cold). I'm a BIG fan of riding in vests :) I've never ridden in a t-shirt or hoodie, just because I try to look somewhat presentable for lessons and hacks.

  15. Shared, woohoo for being a blogging machine!!

I actually only own 2 polos and I've bought both of them in the last 6 weeks. I usually ride in one of my fitted V-neck tshirts, all of which I bought at Target on sale for $5. They look way nicer than they cost. In the winter I have a couple long-sleeve athletic shirts from- you guessed it- Target. Plus a fitted Northface puffer jacket when it gets frigid. I tend to avoid tank tops usually, since I've fallen off and scraped up my shoulder pretty badly in the past. I'd reeeeally like to get a sunshirt or two to lesson in, but I'm still searching for the great deals too!

I'm a sports fabric t-shirt person, usually the cheap-o ones from Walmart. For nicer rides (lessons, clinics, etc.) I will go with polos.

  17. I usually ride in polos, and I like the sports material golf polos. I go the sporting goods stores(like Dick's Sporting Goods) and buy what I can find for a good deal.Shared! http://paolashorseblog.blogspot.com/2015/06/round-through-transitions.html

    1. In winter I wear thin, long sleeve, sport material shirts that are made to keep you warm. I got those at Costco.

  18. I love sun shirts for summer. The Kastel Denmark are my favorite. In the winter is Under Armour. The Heat Gear line really helps hold in body heat and wick sweat. I usually wear a North Face vest over the UA long sleeves. Thanks for the contest!

  19. I have in the past almost always worn Under Armour heat gear semi fitted shirts but I did branch out and get a couple Kastel shirts which I love when it's not ridiculously humid in Michigan!

I like to ride in sun shirts! I've found that polos aren't terribly flattering on me and tanks are a little too exposed.

  21. Congrats!!
    1. I shared the contest at:
    http://eventingincolor.blogspot.com/2015/06/tackity-tack.html

    2. I prefer to ride in long-sleeve sun-shirts, but I only have 2, so I often ride in less-fancy workout tops, and also in regular t-shirts.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I often ride in Port Authority colorblock technical polos - it's not so much the polo part of it that I like, so much as the technical fabric. I don't think I'll ride in regular cotton again, EVER! I'll occasionally ride in an Ariat technical top, or another tech top I got at Target. They're usually short-sleeved, but I have some long-sleeve tech tops that I break out when the sun is really intense or when there's a bit of chill.

    And ... sharing! :)

As far as garb goes, I'm a polo or a sunshirt girl in the summer! But that is mainly due to our dress code that says 'no thanks' to tank tops. I don't mind, as we don't tend to ride in the uber hot days of summer anyway. We are either too lazy or can't handle the humidity. I tend to pick mine up online during the good sales, as our local tack stores are fantastic, but a bit pricy.

  24. Congrats on 700!

I used to be tank tops as soon as it was anything near hot (I like the wacky tan lines). Now I am into the sun shirts. I really do feel more comfortable in them. I really like ariat and Kastels, they fit me the best. And now that I am working at a tack store, I have no more excuses not to buy them.

  25. I like UA and the athletic shirts Target sells, Champion brand maybe? They are super light weight and way cheaper than an equestrian sunshirt. I also stock up on Old Navy vests when they have their big sale to ride in b/c MI is cold 3/4 of the year.

  26. Tank top! I'd totally do a tube top if possible, I'm all about that tan!
