Oh this week...

sucks... period.

Hubby has a crazy work schedule leaving me little to no time do ride, now I will throw myself on the floor and have a fit.

Ok I am over it now.

Monday Henry got the Chiropractor and turned out.

It's back to being dark when I leave the barn at night blah

Tuesday I didn't get to the barn till 6:20 ish so no lesson for me.

I tacked up, lunged the wild horse- the weather cooled down and he was CRAY!- then got on as the lesson was ending and coming back up to untack... I went inside to and got to work.

Henry was still high so I just tried to ride him down... his brain works so much better when he is tired lol!

I worked on moving his hind end around, much better to the right after the chiro! Also a little shoulder in and haunches in.

Also really going into the corners on the open end despite him sure there was something out there the first few times. Thankfully he got over that quickly :)

Then just going through the paces and not being heavy (ha thats a joke right?!). Lots of cantering  and good transitions!

Turn out Wednesday, spoiled boy!

Strep Throat

Um Yeah it kicked my bootie... no fun folks. And of course it happened when my Dr was closed and I thought I could tough it out.

Tylonal cold, water and just plain bad assery got me through it... got an antibiotic Wednesday. PTL!

I went and took at lesson Tuesday, im not sure how I did it. It was way to hot and I was not feeling well. I took some tylonal and hoped for the best.

Flatting felt like eternity, tho L was doing no stirrups so it wasn't as torturous as her flatting- so thankful trainer didn't ask me to drop mine... but I pushed through.

Warmed up over the purple, tho now that I look at this it moved to the left of the oxer... anywho we went back and forth.

Then L and I did a course... purple right to the green line, right to the red line, right to the green vertical to the maroon oxer, left roll back to the green line the other way.

After doing that a few times, I was spent... tylonal was wearing off, my throat and head were killing me and I was done... called it quits till next lesson.

Honestly I think Henry was good but I don't really remember much ha!

Thankfully I am feeling better ... it's still hot though.

Hack tonight, lesson Friday am and hack Saturday am...

Also I scored some sweet loot from Riding Warehouse during their labor day sale...

G even got his first cooler!! :)

Sacramento International Meet Up?

Hey local ladies... does anyone want to go to this at the end of the month? Lets plan to meet up if we can! Message me so we can set up what day works best for everyone!

Thursday I had a lesson.. flatted myself while trainer finished up her lesson before mine and Kat.

Warmed up over the purple back and forth... then trainer had to go take the mom of the girls who rode before me up, she was too lazy (her own words) to walk back to the barn ... oye!

Anywho when trainer got back we did a course...

Purple right hand turn to the black X roll back btwn the purple and oxer to the green left around to the red line oxer to wall left around to the green line left and trot the blue left over the maroon oxer to the green in a bending line.

We worked on the green line a bit because coming off my left lead is my weaker approach.

Henry was great, my grandma got to watch me ride and i had fun... all good things!!

Cleaned me tack and Henry.. tucked him in and headed home to eat the delicious corned beef, potatoes, carrots and cabbage I had in the crock pot at home for dinner :)

Jumpy Jump Jump Jump Jump Jump

I ended up getting a lesson in on Tuesday, on at 9... M, K and K were there too- yay for lesson buddies!

We flatted inside. Henry was great, I didn't lunge cause well I don't lunge that much anymore unless he's head a few days off. He just hacked around... I got yelled at for my thumbs not being up and keeping my shoulders back- story of my life lol!

Then we went outside and cantered a little bit and jumped...

Warmed up over the purple little vertical.... back and forth.

Course time...

Blue oxer right hand turn to the black X line left to the green line left to the red oxer/vertical line left turn maroon oxer to green vertical bending line left to the blue oxer left (btwn the maroon oxer and green) to the purple vertical right hand turn to the second jump in the green line.

We did some tweaking here and there but overall it was a good lesson woot! I am getting better at not over riding and letting him do his job and being straight :)

Also, Mr G got a new fly get up since his old one got ruined when he got beat up :(

But he looks so handsome!

Also rode one of my bff's reiners who is BROKE ... so light to any aids and SOOOO MUCH FUN!! She is my new fav horse she has lol.

I'll have to get pics/video next time!

Lesson Thursday...

Horse Home Decor

I know I have seen a few other DIY horse decor things that other bloggers have done. So I thought I'd show you all a few things that I have around the house.

one of the walls going up the stairs

I love having the horsey bleed into my home life too but I have to be smart because hubby already wonders why we have Henry in our family pictures lol!!

I have a few horse touches here and there through the house... when we have a bigger house I already warned hubby that there will be more sneaking in :)

I updated the pictures on the wall that I have Henry and my ribbons... The old picture was of like a 2 ft jump at our second show lol.

Super cute pumpkin I found, would love hubby to make me more
Anywho it would be fun to see the horse decor that you have in your house!!!

Also do you know of a cute etsy shop or place that had cute stuff?

Share!!

Engage Your Core

Screener from right before the show

I've been riding despite my ability to blog, though I guess if it's blog or ride we all know what would win haha!

I was super sore from having to ride him down at the show, so sad... I literally have never been in that much pain. My core and back were out of control, guess thats good that I was engaging them rather then pulling cause my arms were totally fine.

I hacked last week and planned to lesson but hubby's schedule didn't allow :( But Henry got out for 3 rides and turn out the rest of the days.

Henry and Blue
Barn buddy E is on vaca so I have been turning Blue out... Henry loves having a turn out buddy.

Our hacks have been good... Working on really keeping him straight, especially to the left he wants to not be straight- homeboy loves it when I make him be correct :)

I texted the Chiro to come out when he has time.

How Henry feels about Mondays
Hoping to get in on a lesson tomorrow morning woo hoo!

2 Classes

I need 3 coffees, 6 horses and like 12 million dollars

So Henry loaded and traveled great.... got to the show and it was a hurry up and wait situation. Like always right?!

They had done all of the flat classes that were in my realm so I singed up for two 2'6 classes to warm up and then was going to do the 2'9/3 classes.

Tacked Henry up and got on... he was HIGH lol so I just rode and rode and rode. We jumped some warm up jumps thinking that it was almost the 2'6 stuff... only to find out that they were going to wait days for ponies and then water/drag.

Hung out some more and then did a few more jumps before I went in and did my two rounds...

The first round was great except homeboy didn't want to do one lead change BLAH!

Second round was even better, then homeboy knocked a rail in the last line.... AHHHHHH for real Henry?!!?

We got a 5th in the 2'6 Hunters, despite our lead woot! To bad he didn't do a nice clean one!

They still had a million 2'6 round to go and no one, including me, wanted to wait around for hours in the heat to do the 2'9/3' so we packed up and went home...

All in all Henry was good, a bit of a turn to warm up, but good... next show we shall do more.

Maybe I will joing SAHJA next year and do the 2'9/3' stuff and try to get a tri ;) Henry and I need one of those! lol

We are ready, I hope!

Had two great lessons this week... oh Henry I just love you so much!

Packing for the show

I ended up riding Tuesday night with the late crew, always love riding with those ladies- used to be my go to when I worked out of the home.

Our course looks like this now...

Tuesday we did the purple to warm up.

Then moved on to the blue 6 stride line off the right lead, left hand turn to the red line.

Then she had us do the yellow oxer off the left lead, right hand turn up the 5 stride.

It took me a min to get my crap together but over all Henry was great and such a stud!

Cooled him out and pulled some more mane in prep for the show.

Thursday night hack

Friday I had a lesson. Last one before the show...

I flatted around on my own and trainer threw in a few things here and there... she had me do some lead changes through the center of the ring, counter canter and lead changes in the corner... gotta love the flat workout before any over fence work ha!

We warmed up over the purple.

Then we did the yellow oxer off the left lead, right hand turn to the blue 6 stride line, left to the red line, left to the yellow oxer, right to the green line...

3'3 baby!

Then trainer mixed it up and we did things a bit backwards... right lead to the red line the other way (3 stride to the 2 stride), right hand turn to the 6 stride line, left hand turn to the green 5 stride line.

Here is a video of that last line :)

Again Henry was awesome, we worked out my issues and hopefully we are ready for the SHOW- WOOT!

Quick hack tomorrow, bath and loading the rest of the trainer... then we are off Sunday!

Brunello's Da Man!

I have said before how Jersey Boy and Brunello are two of my current fav horses... not sure if you all watched but Brunello won the USHJA International Hunter Derby Championship for the third year in a row, woot!

Henry and I haven't had anything that amazing happen in our hacks buuuut he is a pretty amazing chestnut too :)

Hubby just worked 7 days/nights straight... keep in mind these are 12+ hour shifts plus a min of an hour commute each way. SO I haven't been able to ride since Thursday. I can not wait for my lesson tonight lol!!

KFC ... chicken chicken
Henry has gotten out every day though cause I can do that with the girls :)

It's been over 100 for three days in a row... too hot! I bet Henry is happy I haven't ridden him ha!

Maybe I can convince hubby to take some pics tonight if he comes .. or maybe Kat and I can take pics of each other :)
